Simulation (SIL) Engineer to Volvo Cars
The control systems of a modern vehicle must be safe, efficient and robust. The introduction of autonomous vehicles brings a new dimension of challenges where the driver is removed from the equation.
Volvo Cars is on a mission to bring traditional car manufacturing into a connected, sustainable, and smart future. They have bold ambitions in innovation, safety, and electrification. Within the Safe Vehicle Automation (SVA) department, Volvo Cars lead the way in setting the industry standard for AD and ADAS function development, designing and verifying the complete vehicle solution for autonomous cars and active safety functions.
The role
You’ll be joining a new, centralized team of 6–7 senior engineers dedicated to advancing Volvo Cars’ industry-leading work in validating and verifying AD/ADAS functions. This team’s mission is to ensure that all AD/ADAS functions are first verified in a simulated environment. You will use Closed Loop simulation with predefined traffic scenarios to test key functionalities, including collision avoidance, low-speed maneuvers, autonomous driving, and co-pilot assistance.
In this role, you’ll
collaborate closely with various teams across the organization, including those
responsible for building and maintaining the simulation environment. Your daily
tasks will involve Python scripting and working with the open-source platform
Esmini for simulation activities.
Your Profile
To thrive in this position, you should have a strong interest
in simulation, safety, and vehicles. You are a proactive, self-motivated
individual who takes initiative and is focused on progress. You take
responsibility for building connections, expanding your network, and asking the
right questions to support growth. Collaboration across various disciplines and
teams is essential, so strong communication skills and the ability to work
effectively with diverse groups are crucial for success in this role.
We are looking for candidates who:
- Have recently completed a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a relevant field
- Have both good Python skills and simulation knowledge
- Show an interest in vehicles and/or the automotive industry
- Are fluent in English
(Swedish is a plus)
Additional skills that would be advantageous:
- A Swedish category B driver’s license
- Familiarity with testing environments, especially SIL but also real-world testing
- An interest in game engines
and VR
